Introducing our first ever FITNESS CHALLENGE!
Like most things, it is out of pure necessity for myself. With all the turbulence of the last year, I’m finding it difficult to find motivation to do the things I typically enjoy. I need a real kick in the butt… Something to build momentum going into 2024; I see 2024 as a pivotal year for The Ranch, and we’ll need to execute on our goals.

Premise: walk/run an AVERAGE of 3 miles per day in the month of December. We will have “equivalent” options if someone wants to use the elliptical, bike or stair climber.
Purpose: we can build momentum by successfully sticking to a goal. This challenge is an “easy” and healthy thing you can do anywhere on earth, so there are very few excuses to not being able to complete it.
How it will work: We all will put $20 into a pot, anyone who finishes gets their money back. We will put money into the pot, as well, and if we don’t finish, one lucky finisher will receive our $20. We will have a Facebook Group where everyone will submit a photo of their workouts daily. The miles do not have to be all at once, but they do have to be dedicated walks/activity, not just steps you’d normally accrue throughout the day. If you’re a smart watch wearer, a simple test would be, “would I start my watch for this activity?” If yes, track it.
This will also help all of us keep to an exercise goal during the Christmas season, which is usually filled with excessive eating and drinking, and has been shown to be the single time of year when American’s weight is net positive; weight which never fully comes off.

Biking : 3.33 miles = 1 mile, which is equal to Distance biked x 0.3
Stairs : 40 flights = 1 mile
Elliptical : 1 mile = 1 mile
Card: will lose processing fee* upon return
